When you think about golf, what is the first thing that you think of? Probably, old guys and a lot of walking right? Well, when I think about golf, this is not my first thought. Golf is a really big part of my life to this day. I love to watch golf, play golf, and teach golf. It honestly is a really fun game.
I started to play golf when I was really young. My Mum gave my dad some golf clubs for their wedding present and he fell in love with it. Along with me, my sister and brother play. We are all pretty good. My brother is the best out of the kids. My sister and brother are both on full rides at 2 different colleges for golf. I want to do that after this year at Mott.
My sister and I played on the same golf team in high school for a couple years. That was so much fun to me. We ended up going on to win a state championship. She graduated that year, then my senior year we placed third in states.
I love playing golf with my sister and brother; it makes it more competitive, but still fun at the same time. My dad loves to watch us. He is my coach, my instructor. Between him and my brother, I get a lot of help.
We watch a lot of golf in my house as well. People really don’t like coming over to my house during big golf tournaments on TV. Most people find it such a boring sport but I don't understand how. It is so exciting, and nerve racking.
Some people also say that it is not a sport which really upsets me when they say this. It is a sport. You have to carry a bag, for 18 holes, so clearly that is athletic. Then, you have to hit a ball with a club exactly the way you want it or you are going to get frustrated. You play for yourself. You usually do not have teammates to rely on. Golf is one of the most mental sports I have ever come across.
So I know people think golf is a boring sport, or not a sport at all, but I do not believe this. It is something that I want, and something I can do for the rest of my life. It is a great way to relieve stress. You don’t think about anything while you are out there, just you and your next shot. I encourage you all to try it sometime, if you haven't already!
